you might not want to view email as slow, but it is. yes, there are
benefits to discussing issues asynchronously with time for reflection.
but there are also benefits to getting in a room or on irc and
hammering out tough issues in real time. we don't need to neglect
either method of working. irc and f2f meetings can be summarized and
proposals posted to lists to allow everybody to comment and further
the discussion.
