OK, here's another case:
public class GoodStuff {
int x;
public static class Frob {
int y;
public Frob() {
y = 3;
};
public void random () {
y = -1;
}
}
public void update (Frob f) {
x = 2;
}
public void endit () {

}
}
I get the following error:
% javac -classpath . GoodStuff.java
