Oh, one more thing - sorry, I'm slow this morning - to build from svn sources, 
you need a sane JDK as well. GCJ can pose as your regular JDK but it's not 
able to properly compile the Lucene sources. An example of how to do all this 
on an AMD 64 machine running Ubuntu Linux was posted here:
