It looks like you hit a problem with gcj.
How did you get gcj ?
gcj 3.4.6 works well for me on Ubuntu. I'd expect it to work just as well on 
Red Hat.

Are you sure it's gcj 3.4.6 ?
What does gcj --version return ?
