JCC knows nothing of Lucene so the short answer is Yes !

The long answer is that I have not tried JCC with anything else than Lucene.
I fully expect JCC to work with other Java libraries barring some unexpected 
Java coding patterns (that Lucene is not using) that could reveal a bug in 
JCC.

If you try this with another Java library and find bugs, by all means, let 
me know on this list. I want to fix them.

The README file [1] for JCC should provide most interesting reading.

Please note that this README file [1] is not to be confused with the 
"PyLucene with JCC" README file [2]. The former is the documentation for 
generic JCC while the latter is specific to PyLucene.
