I'm using what is installed on my Intel Mac OS X laptop.

gcc --version says:

i686-apple-darwin8-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5341)
Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

Is this current or is there something newer available from Apple ?

When I start XCode.app and ask it for its version, it says: Xcode 2.3
Xcode IDE: 744.0 Xcode Core: 747.0 ToolSupport: 733.0

Andi..
