Andi,

I followed your INSTALL instructions for 2.0.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.6 (I
want to build for the system Python 2.3.5), but (sigh) can't get
gcc-3.4.4 to build:

./xgcc -B./ -B ... libgcc/./unwind-c.o -lc && rm -f libgcc_s.dylib && ...
/usr/bin/libtool: for architecture: cputype (16777234) cpusubtype (0) file: -lc is not an object file (not allowed in a library)
make[3]: *** [libgcc_s.dylib] Error 1
make[2]: *** [libgcc.a] Error 2
make[1]: *** [stage1_build] Error 2
make: *** [bootstrap] Error 2

Any ideas?
