I asked my colleague how the task entered our system:
He created the task in Outlook 2003 and then synchronized via a Funambol plugin, so there is at least one conversion involved (perhaps two).

Anyway, the task was created for testing purposes and after reading Bernard's clarification, I don't think it's worth to bother dealing with the relaxed implementation.
