I agree it's not the desired behavior, but if people feel like the  
resulting "longer" start-up time is a worse usability problem, then  
it might be worth doing.

Can other iCal users talk about whether they've noticed this bug and  
if you have, how much of a problem is it for you? Would a slightly  
faster start-up time be worth losing item selection across sessions  
in the short-term?
