[Dev] Import/export code review and brainstorm

Hi Folks,

I've had a task on my plate for a while to get a code review of the
import/export tests.  I'd been waiting to do this till I spiffed said
tests up, but Katie pointed out to me this wasn't really what was
intended, even if the tests aren't yet done, it would be good to get
collective wisdom on what tests we think ought to exist, and potentially
spread the work of writing such tests out.

So I'd like to tentatively schedule an import/export tests code review
for this Thursday, say, at 1:30, unless there are major conflicts.
