[Dev] Mitchell's role

I currently have two roles at OSAF: part-time employee focused on
community relations and a member of the Board. In addition, I've been
the general manager of the Mozilla project for a number of years. In
July of 2003 I also took on the role of President of the Mozilla
Foundation, the independent non-profit organization we formed -- with
significant help from Mitch Kapor, to whom I am indebted -- to help
guide the project into a new phase. After long consideration, I have
reluctantly concluded that I cannot continue with all three roles.

In the meantime, Ted Leung has become an exceedingly effective catalyst
for Chandler's community development and community relations
activities. Ted has spear-headed our effort to distribute the
Community Relations function through-out the Chandler engineering
organization through the Developer Platform goals. A number of Chandler
developers are also involved with other open source projects now (Andi
with PyLucene, Brian with Twisted, David Surovell as well as Robin Dunn
with wxWidgets, Heikki Toivenon wit m2Crypto, as well as Ted with the
Apache Software Foundation) and this is further strengthening the open
source nature of Chandler development.

I have therefore concluded that the demands of the Mozilla project are
such that I must focus my energies there rather than as an OSAF
employee. I will remain on the OSAF Board of Directors and will
contribute through that role, and plan to remain a resource to the many
excellent colleagues at OSAF and the broader Kapor-Klein Inter- Entity
Group. I have a few projects to finish at OSAF, which I hope to wrap up
in January and make the transition as of February 1. I am exceedingly
grateful to Mitch for his support of my work at OSAF and with the
Mozilla project.

Mitchell
