[Dev] Linux and Mac downloads much smaller

Yesterday I enabled code to strip the *.so libs on Linux and Mac. These
brought the Chandler download sizes down considerably (7-8 MB). For the
first time ever the Linux download is in the acceptable range at 15.3
MB. Mac has still some way to go, but it is much lighter at 23.9 MB.

There is a possibility that some things stopped working, so please let
me know.

Technical details:

There is now a strip target in external/Makefile and chandler/Makefile,
which will strip (strip -S on Mac) all *.so's under release dir. It is
not done by default when you do make world or make install, so you need
to do it manually afterwards.

This still remains to be done for the full build tinderboxes.
