You might want "up -P -d", since otherwise cvs update won't create
directories that other users have added to the repository.
As YASVNP(*), in subversion you can set things like this on a
per-server basis (or globally). Also, since it has a more enlightened
view of directories, there's no silliness with "-P", or "-d", and no
spamming the commit list anytime anyone adds a directory anywhere (one
of my pet peeves about "cvs add" of a directory).
