Here is a Mozilla extension that would allow you to hit ctrl+e in HTML 
TEXTAREA and it would bring up your favorite editor with the textarea 
contents in it. It seems like this project has been abandoned, dunno if 
it works or if there is continuation work somewhere:

I don't know if there are standalone WYSIWYG Wiki editors, but would be 
interested in those, so please let me/us know...
