This facility reminds me of the Transclusion feature of BlueOxen's
PurpleWiki (see
http://purplewiki.blueoxen.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?TransClusion),
which uses ideas from Doug Engelbart (unobtrusive numeric
"anchors" automatically attached to each paragraph) and Ted Nelson
(dynamic inclusion by reference from a piece of one text into
another).
It's less general than Named Includes, in that you can only
transclude paragraphs; on the other hand, the author of the
original text doesn't have to anticipate what pieces folks might
want to transclude.
