When I started writing a parcel in CPIA world I went to look at the 
autogenerated documentation here: http://www.osafoundation.org/docs/current/

For example, what are all the Kinds?

That is a good start, but then you will hit problems with attributes. 
What values do the attributes accept, and what do they mean? Some have 
default values, so you can guess. Some you won't have any idea by 
looking at the documentation, unfortunately.
