Quick note:
If one of the design targets turns out to be a PIM supporting groups, could
the documents (especially emails) be stored in the support server(s) with
"pointers" to each addressee?  A substantial reduction in personal storage
requirements would result.  This could be handled as a "group item" with a
set of address pointers; when the set becomes empty, the item is removed.
