As someone already mentioned; Mozilla does this. Why re-invent the wheel? The 
first step should be to find out if (a) you can use the Mozilla password 
manager code independant of Mozilla and (b) it meets Chandler's needs. If no, 
then we can worry about how to design a replacement.
