Interesting. It's worked well for me in the past.  I usually had a  
core group of experienced beta testers I regularly worked with that  
had no trouble with it.

Obviously I would put things that are generally useful in the test menu.

But sometimes it would be useful for me to be able to ask a savvy  
user with a problem to open up the block viewer and tell me the value  
of an attribute on a block.

One of my main reasons for preferring it over the plugin is purely  
selfish. It's just easier for me to use those commands in the release  
version. And if I'm helping someone I don't need to have them restart  
Chandler and explain how to install the plugin they need to track  
down the problem.
