here's my suggestion:

1) each event in a calendar is given a timezone when the event is
created or updated (maybe this is the default chandler time zone, or
one that was
chosen specifically for that event)

2) the cosmo user selects a timezone preference, and the cosmo ui
converts each event from its "native" timezone to the one chosen by
the user
