Jed has done a great job of fixing the bulk of the visual bugs in the
mini-cal. I'm now working on a final round of visual tweaks to get
the mini-cal up to production quality.
There are still a number of margin/border issues to address. For now
I'm focusing on 3 main things:
1. Improving the readability and visual appeal of the busy-bars
2. Improving the readability of Today's Date in the mini-cal: See
June 4th for what we do now.
3. Improving selection readability.
Proposal
1. Fatten the busy-bars (3 pixels instead of 2), but keep them light
in saturation so that they don't compete with the date numbers.
Compare May and June.
2. Make the busy-bars flush with the dividers. Right now, they are
still 1 pixel above the dividers.
3. Limit the top of the busy-bar to be 3 pixels below the top of the
date numbers. (The busy-bars running all the way to the top of the
date numbers breaks up the week-rows and creates visual noise.) See
June 23rd as an example of this.
4. Darken the selection color (66% grey, down from 80% grey) and
reverse the color of the date numbers to be white when selected. See
1st week of May (Week view selection) and June 8th (Day view selection)
5. Add an 80% grey background to call-out TODAY (refers to grey
background for TODAY in the main calendar canvas): See June 6th.
6. Darken the selection when TODAY is selected: 50% grey: See May 4th
and June 8th.
