Hi Everyone,
I have a Palm Treo 650 which I carry around with me and I really want
to be able to see my calendar and my todo lists on the Treo. But, I
also want to be able to dogfood Chandler and use it as my primary
calendar. So, to accomplish this.. I have been doing the following:
1. Create my events in Chandler (shared calendar stored in cosmo).
2. Export the calendar as a ics file.
3. Import .ics file into iCal on same machine.
At this point, I can see my calendar just fine in iCal.
SIdenote: I import .ics into iCal, even though I would rather
subscribe iCal to the calendar on Cosmo. I can't do that because
iCal treats all subscribed calendars as read-only and you can't sync
a read-only calendar to the mobile device! Arrgh.
4. Setup the Missing Sync (application for syncing to mobile devices)
to sync this calendar.
Missing Sync will generate an error which attempting to sync this
imported calendar. The error is:
Sync starting at 3/16/06 3:57 PM (15:57:21) on Bluetooth (5.1.0 b18)
NSInvalidArgumentException *** -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]:
attempt to insert nil value
OK Mark/Space Events with 1 message(s)
Sync completed successfully at 3/16/06 3:58 PM (15:58:20)
From poking around on the Markspace website (makers of Missing
Sync), it appears that this error usually happens when an attribute
on an item that you are syncing doesn't exist (or has a bad value)
and the Missing Sync expects this value to be there.
To track this down, I tried deleting all but a basic event from my
calendar and syncing that new modified calendar. This worked just
fine. So, now I am in the process of deleting events from my calendar
one by one and syncing each time to find out which event might be the
source of my problem.
Has anyone else run into this? Mimi suggested that I post this to the
list as my interesting use case. I would really like this to work so
I plan to continue working on this until I find the bad event in my
calendar..
If anyone else has an experience in this area, please let me know.
Thanks,
