I haven't been using this with Chandler, though I did occasionally use 
something similar with Outlook. The two distinctions I wanted were 
basically "shows up as busy" and "doesn't show up as busy". With this in 
mind, the terminology strikes me as a bit odd.

I think it is useful if you publish free-busy, independently of the 
invitation workflow.

I just used Anytime events the first time yesterday. I will probably use 
@Time events, especially if the ui is tweaked to make it easier.

No, I wouldn't use event status in this case.
