If I may add my 2 cents. I personally like to have the granularity
about the number of minutes before an event. Specifically for
meetings. Call me Goldilocks, but 5 mins is too long, and 1 min too
short, and I like my alarm to be set 3 mins before a meeting. Which
is why I have alarms set in iCal as well, and iCal is usually the
alarm that pops up first. Opposed to the Chandler alarms. I think the
alarm pop up in Chandler is popping up behind the application for
some reason, I've already filed a bug a while ago.
In any case, having the control of that granularity is key for me,
and having the calendar remember the stored setting I had used before
is also key.
Though things I dislike about iCal alarms is 1. you can tab over to
the drop down of the alarm but cannot use the arrow keys to change
the alarm time setting. 2. When the alarm does pop up, I close the
pop up window, but the calendar icon is still bouncing on the dock
until you click on the calendar icon and the calendar application has
to come up front and center.
Now I haven't checked yet but there may be a setting I can change and
just haven't done it yet.
