It's been a while since we had a summary of the latest calendar
dogfood feedback (my bad). Over the past month, there has been quite
a bit of activity on the lists, less so in bugzilla. Sorry the list
is a bit overwhelming, you can expect another round in a couple of
weeks (in an effort to do this more regularly).
As with the last round, the PPD team has bucketized all the feedback
according to the following categorizations.
+ Things that prevent me from even experimenting/playing with Chandler
+ Things that prevent me from using Chandler day to day
+ Nice to have and interaction annoyances
+ Nice to have for "ultra" usable calendar
+ Feature requests outside the scope of calendaring
All dogfood feedback that is part of the first 4 groups is currently
being maintained on the following wiki page which is also accessible
via a link on the main 0.7 planning page. Any out of scope feature
requests are added to bugzilla and set to a future release.

ZeroPointSevenCalendarPriorities
Since the list of items is ever growing, particularly for the "things
that prevent me from using Chandler day to day" category, we will
likely further prioritize this group so we can get the most important
fixes in for 0.7. Some of the items (marked on the wiki page) we have
already targeted for the alpha 2 release.
The following is a summary of all the feedback we have received over
the past 6 weeks. Refer to page above for more detail and individual
bug numbers.
+ Things that prevent me from even experimenting/playing with Chandler
- Several issues where users cannot restart Chandler after it
crashes have been reported
- Crashing while subscribing to shares
+ Things that prevent me from using Chandler day to day
- There were a couple of data loss issues reported, particularly
when entering data in the notes field
- Some users ran into sharing sync errors
- Dragging in the all-day area to create multi-day events
- Date and time format should follow OS - wanted to see European format
- Complex recurrence scenarios like 2nd Tues of every month
- Changing a not-mine collection to a mine collection, didn't result
in those events getting reflected in mini cal busy bars
- I wanted to import a calendar (the conference calendar) as "not
mine", where we had assumed that you'd always want an imported
calendar to be "mine".
- Some of the performance issues effected my ability to understand
what was happening (unchecking and checking calendars).
- More reminder times alternatives, longer snooze interval and
audible alarms
- Dragging and dropping emails into Chandler
- Chandler gets into a state where I cannot delete item from any of
my "My" collections
- Recurring anytime events are behaving funny - multiple occurrences
appearing after making changes
- Add the ability to cut and paste (items) events on the calendar
- Keyboard support to advance the week view
- Chandler doesn't shut down
- Get a double dialog box for whether or not I want to uninstall
Chandler before re-installing
+ Nice to have and interaction annoyances
- Support for Undo, particularly if you delete a collection
- Request for contacts management "architecture"
- It would be nice to know who has subscribed to my calendars
- Change the order of collections in the sidebar
- Distinguish between shared and non-shared attributes in the detail
view
- Add UI option to change which day starts the week
+ Nice to have for "ultra" usable calendar
- It would be cool to be able to share a bunch of collections at once.
- In my use case, I actually would have liked to share the colors of
the collections.
- UI improvements when a timeslot has too many events to display
usefully
- Ability to drag an event to a date on the mini calendar as a
method of moving it.
- Have the Notes for an event display when mouse is rolled over the
event entry in the calendar view
- Ability to merge 2 collections together
- Rollover behavior on calendar to reveal overlapping events
- When setting the time for an event, "military" time is not recognized
+ Feature requests outside the scope of calendaring (just logged in
bugzilla as future items)
- HTML format for notes
- Integration with mapping features
- Support for vCards
- Special business hour display. Different hour height for bus and
non bus hours
- Fancy date/time matching when entering info
Some previously reported issues that came up again...
- Inability to re-subscribe to a deleted collection.
- Support for invitations
- Reminders not pronounced enough - sound, should popup in front
- Context menus
- Sharing discoverability and workflow issues
- Better keyboard navigation support - accessing menus, tabbing
through fields
- Complex recurrence
- Performance
- Search
- Crashes when printing
