In an effort to nail down performance goals for 0.7, we're conducting
a survey to get a sense of how much data Chandler Dogfooders will
have in the 0.7 timeframe. Please follow the instructions below and
reply to this thread with:
1. The tool(s) you are using: Chandler, Apple iCal, Outlook, Omni-
Outliner, Text file, etc.
2. The number of calendars and task lists you have
3. The number of items in each calendar and task list
If you're comfortable, please share the name of each calendar/task list.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHANDLER 0.6 CALENDAR DOGFOODERS*
1. From Chandler, export the calendar you want to compute to the
Desktop.
2. From the command line**, type cd Desktop
3. Copy and paste: grep BEGIN:VEVENT your_filename.ics | wc -l
4. Edit <your_filename> to match the name of the calendar file you
exported
5. Hit enter.
*This will only work for Mac users and Windows users with cygwin
installed. Linux, please figure out moral equivalent.
**To get to the command line:
+ On Mac, launch the Terminal app
+ On Windows, launch Command Prompt
If you're also storing non-calendar items in Chandler today, please
give an estimate of the number of non-calendar items you have:
a) Less than 100
b) 100-500
c) 500-1000
d) Over 1000
If you're NOT using Chandler, but use something else as a calendar
and/or task list.
You can either follow the instructions above to count the number of
events you have on your calendar, IF you can export in the iCalendar
format; OR You can give us an estimate.
Thanks! :o)
