my email address is nowhere near as sensitive to me as my phone
number. i can apply any number of filters to email to ensure that i
see very little unsolicited communication. not so with phone. but
that's just my personal opinion. i'm not saying your friend shouldn't
be paranoid, just that she's probably in a small minority.

i don't see any reason for the server to send sharing notifications
when the sharer is using chandler to actually share the content.
