Hi Folks,
There was quite a bit of back and forth on Ars Technica a few weeks ago
after a story about Chandler 0.6 appeared. I participated in the
discussion, and got a fair amount of what I thought was interesting
feedback. Feel free to read through the thread directly
(http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/ubb.x?a=dl&s=50009562&f=174096756&x_id=1137180761)
or here's a quick summary of what I thought were interesting points:
- I absolutely love syncing my phone with my computer, and don't see
myself using a PIM that can't, even on a limited scale.
- When you guys add different ways to view the calander, a option to
specify when the weeks start and end would help. [created Bug 5099]
- I'm really impressed with the program, creating a event and being able
to drag it around and resize it is great, only thing I have trouble with
is making it able to expand to a new day, [created bug 5100] and when I
type in the time manually, I can't just enter 3 or 3 PM and it will
autocorrect to 3:00 PM. I like the speed of it.
- Will all tasks, emails, conversions, etc be tracked against individual
contacts and companies? What about document generation: will there be
any way to store outgoing documents (for example, electronic quotes)
against contacts? Will the contact system be built around companies (ie.
company -> division -> employee/contact) or indiviual contacts?
- there is no month view, only week and day
- Has using email as a synchronization mechanism been dropped?
- Oh, drag and drop support for VCF files would be totally awesome. It's
one of the very few reasons I haven't switched from OE to Thunderbird.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey
