It was especially ungraspable to this user because they support drag- 
and-drop to move events between calendars, but not to copy them.  
Naughty iCal.

Here are 2 OOTB somehows:

An extra collection in the sidebar, that also contains the Welcome Note?

A "+" button next to the "Appears In..." item in the detail view as a  
clue?
