[Design] [Proc]Proposal for a nag-reminder feature

Alec and I ended up getting into a meta-discussion about the
"Proposal for a nag-reminder feature", which I thought was a good
topic to explore on the list.

I think the point of contention is whether we should be tracking such
design suggestions in Bugzilla.

I would say that most design ideas are not captured or tracked in
Bugzilla, but that part of the responsibility of the Design/Product
team is to collect and keep track of those ideas. The notion of a
"nagging reminder" is not new to Chandler design and as Jeffrey
pointed out is part of the iCalendar spec as well.

In that sense, I don't think we'll lose track of it. However, before
it is articulated as a task in bugzilla, it needs to be considered
within the context of workflows and user scenarios. For instance, we
may decide that we have a completely different feature that solves
the same user scenario but looks nothing that this nag feature.
That's the process we follow for all of our other design ideas. I
think that should be the process we follow for design ideas suggested
by the community as well.

This doesn't mean that people should log bugs as a way to start the
conversation. I think it will be very hard for people in the
beginning to figure out which forum is appropriate and so we don't
want to discourage participation because we have too many channels of
communication to choose from. But once something has landed in our
lap, we need to have a unified process for processing and addressing it.

Given that, we have yet to actually pull together and summarize
Dogfood feedback for 0.6, so perhaps we haven't inspired a lot of
confidence that feedback and suggestions will be taken seriously and/
or won't fall off the radar. But it's a known issue and something
we're actively working on to address in the near-term.
