You can drag the event from the calendar canvas into the sidebar.. It 
might seem funny when you drag the item that it moves on your calendar, 
but it will "snap back" once you drag it out of the calendar area.

If you click on the item itself, it will show you at the bottom of the 
detail view.. do you mean that you'd like to see this indicated 
elsewhere, like in the list itself?
