[Design] Design Session on Use cases for Sections

In the spirit of getting more specific with design planning in 0.7,  
I'm proposing we nail down all the various "sectioning" proposals and  
use cases that have been floating around the design list for the past  
month.

2 main questions to address are:

1. Use cases for sections. What are some specific scenarios for:
+ Comparing two lists
+ Partitioning a view based on an attribute
+ Partitioning a view based on user-defined sections

How common are these usage scenarios?

2. What are different UI solutions for each of these usage scenarios?
+ Different ways to activate sections
+ Different ways to define new ones
+ The relationship between sections, collections in the sidebar and  
attributes on an item
