Perhaps we can make it 2 steps instead:
1. Select option from pulldown
2. Click a [Subscribe] button --> Attempt auto-launch of appropriate app

Subscribe with Feed Reader --> Dialog expands to display the following -

Find out which protocols your application supports and subscribe with  
the appropriate URL:
