Now that we cleared the scenarios being served by the feature, I agree 
that this is an interesting idea. It also has the advantage  of working 
for any class of email server (POP and IMAP) and email client (Web based 
or not). This generality is definitely a plus. Also the impact on 
Chandler or Scooby is close to nil: there's no email feature that 
becomes required as a consequence of endorsing this solution.
