This weeks design summary is from April 17th - 21st. -Priscilla
There was no design session this week.
Design - New Discussions:
Sheila posted Chandler alpha2 data migration plan. In summary, it's a
bit ugly but there is a migration path. We are working towards a
better solution for 0.7.

Design - Continued Discussions:
Philippe posted on the issues surrounding the ability to restore free-
busy after a Chandler user has deleted their repository. Currently
the free-busy share appears in the restore list but we don't really
want this added to the sidebar, it should get hooked up under the
covers. Philippe discovered a bug where an empty collection gets
added to the sidebar when you try and restore this. Technically it's
a share but it behaves a bit differently. The PPD team will tackle
this and have a proposal in place for alpha 3.

Mimi posted a thread to the list, exploring the use cases for adding
private annotations to read-only items. Overall, it seems like there
were quite a few uses cases for this covering calendar events, email
and tasks.

Mimi posted a summary of all the discussion to date on the sidebar
icons and various visual treatments for the checkboxes etc.

Mimi posted a last call for any comments on changing the icons for
the Communications (formerly known as Mail) Kind and the Calendar Kind.

Dogfood
Sheila posted a summary of dog food feedback (part 3) Highlights
include:
+ Things that prevent me from even experimenting/playing with
Chandler
+ Things that prevent me from using Chandler day to day
+ Nice to have and interaction annoyances (inconsistencies?)
+ Nice to have for "ultra" usable calendar
+ Feature requests outside the scope of calendaring
+ Potential design issues to discuss
+ Recurring feedback

Jim Sowers posted in his dogfood: Random Calendar notes:
+ Observations about Yahoo and Google calendar and wishing Chandler
would import .CVS files from Outlook or .PST files
+ Ability to import data
+ Ability to modify data offline or via web (hoping the Chandler
client will get thinner)
+ Ability to export data (migration out if necessary)
+ Long term prospects -- I want to be betting one someone who will
be around for a while.

Scooby
Sheila posted where to locate the preliminary Scooby specs. Which are
located at the bottom of Scooby 0.2 page.

Priscilla posted a proposal for a user preferences feature.

Priscilla posted a proposal for time zone. Discussion was to be
focused on which release would the team be working on the time zone
work or if we can work on this feature or not people care about time
zones.

Cosmo
Priscilla posted a proposal about a work around for recurring events
in Cosmo that is slowing down performance for Scooby. The current
plan of action is not to do anything for the time being until the
Cosmo team has more time to investigate the bug. The course of action
will either be 1. fix the bug or find a more reasonable work around.
