+1 dialog box
I don't like interrupting my workflow to change a setting.
Yes, the user might need to reference something behind the dialog,
but if it's a separate page that wont help that situation anyway.
As for the concern about space for fitting stuff in:
a) I don't know we'll have THAT much stuff
b) tabs help
c) the dialog box doesn't have to be tiny, it can be a big healthy
dialog box
