i prefer the dialog box. i can't think of a desktop app that opens a
new window for me to configure settings. the dialog box is very
obviously for an ancillary task that is interrupting whatever i might
have been doing before, and there are a limited number of options for
me to take to get the dialog closed and off my screen. that just feels
more righter to me.
