i think it's premature to design a workaround feature with impact on
three products before we've had a chance to analyze this bug in depth.
it's on our plate for 0.3, which means we should be researching it
soon. the ideal is to support infinite recurrence without any
noticable performance impact. before 0.3 is shipped we will have 1)
the bug fully fixed or 2) a reasonable workaround, if the full fix is
significantly difficult. i suggest that we table this discussion until
somebody on the cosmo team has done a full investigation.
