I think there is no one "right" answer to the shortcut assignments.
Would it be possible to have a default set of short cut
configurations, but have the user be able to edit the shortcuts if
they want? It may not even be necessary in the beginning to have a UI
for this, just editing a table that gets loaded when Chandler loads
would be great.
