[Design] Email Features List

Hi,
Thanks for the work making the full features list.

How about these?

(re: David Neeley..) I'd like to be able to identify a portion of an email,
and make it an extracted object,
to be identified as needing additional attributes. Example: I get a
rambling email from my boss, in which
she talks about a lot of subjects. One of the subjects is a new weekly
task for me. I'd like to take the part
of the email identifying this activity, and make it the basis of a
scheduled (repeating weekly) task, possibly
with a pointer back to the original email.

(Editing..Spellchecking) I'd like to be able to not only add my own words,
but be able to see the dictionary
entries, independent of spellchekcing(sp ;) ). I'd also like a "fix my
keyboard dislexia" feature (sometimes I type
attachement instead of attachment because my left hand know an 'e' is
coming 'real soon now'). This also
broadens the object to possibly include thesaurus and definition
requirements. Also, while (to,too, two) are spelled correctly, could I get
a (blue or green) underline as a warning for usage, as opposed to a (red)
underline for (word not in dictionary)?

(Editing..SpellCheck..Type-Ahead) I have used a couple of programming
language editors which have provided
a background word lookup feature, which has been of great use. Could
Chandler have the ability to also
look up and "display" words matching the partial words as I type them?
This might be an alternative to a
post-typing verification that the word I just typed is in the dictionary.
Example: "T" does not resolve,
"TW" resolves to (two,twenty,twin,twins,twice,twonky,twouble), "TWI"
resolves to (twin, twins, twice).

(Attachments..) Ducky added my suggestion for a checkbox in the
(NewEmailHeader) for (Attachment).
I can check it before I start the body, so I will have an immediate/local
rule to enforce my precognition
that I will be sending an attachment with this email. I'd also like to
have a GlobalAttachmentSwitch, so I
could preset the attribute of the checkbox (On/Off) for those times when
I'm doing a lot of emails at a time
and expect most of them to have attachments.

(Periodically AutoSave Message) This was probably a response to system
failures. This is a good feature,
but I suspect "most" machines targetted by Chandler may be able to support
a "save-after-every-keystroke"
or at least "save-after-every-word". Maybe this feature needs a control
with options: Immediate, Periodic (give
a time reference), Never. I know that when I type, I have lots of
"seconds" when I am contemplating the words
which could be used by the CPU/DISK for saving. Could this be a background
activity, and applied to all items,
not just "new" emails?

(ReDirect) I agree this is a dangerous feature! If you (n)ever get a round
tuit, please think about forcing the
message not only to be sent to the new person, but also cc: the originator.
Example: If I am on vacation, and
I want all my "work" emails to be redirected to a specific co-worker, I'd
like to be able to compose an envelop
(wrapper) so ReDirected emails all say "I'm on vacation until next week,
talk to Bob", and send the message
to "Bob" and the original sender in such a way that they both know the
message was a (temporary) connector.
I would NOT want to have the ability to just "forward" without such
notification. Alternate view: Let's have full
visibility on forwarded email historical addresses for anti-spam purposes.

(Filter Management) One possibility to consider on "viewing" an email is to
put a list of filters in a secondary box,
and change their color depending on their current status with regards to
the email. Grey - not active, Green - Active
but not triggered, Yellow - Possible Trigger, Red - Triggered. Maybe this
could exist as a (possibly invisible)
small list box near the header, which would only show Triggered filters,
unless I chose to see all filters.

Enough review for one day.......

(Address Management) (caveat this may be there already) When I get an email
from a new contact, I'd like to
be able to fill out a complete "contact information sheet" with email
address, name, phone when available, and
other attributes. Attributes could include: put on whitelist/blacklist,
and add to email group(s).

Thanks,
Lee
