[Design] url wrapping in email (Was: High End Email)David Jeske Sat, 8 Mar 2003 14:23:54 -0800
Speaking of high-end email. No email client (Chandler included) should wrap long URLs. For some reason Apple Mail and Outlook Express both insist on doing this, breaking the URL for many clients. For example: On Sat, Mar 08, 2003 at 01:18:19PM +0100, petite_abeille wrote: > http://guests.evectors.it/zoe/itstories/ > story.php?data=stories&num=63&sec=2 > http://guests.evectors.it/zoe/itstories/ > story.php?data=stories&num=60&sec=2 One such client is the mailing list archive, where these links turn into gibberish. http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/design/2003-March/002184.html http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/design/2003-March/002186.html That said, Chandler might choose to implement a scheme similar to the one I just added to our mailing list archive software to patch back together these needlessly wrapped links: http://archive.neotonic.com/archive/osaf-design/msg/2202 http://archive.neotonic.com/archive/osaf-design/msg/2204 (Added to the wiki and I'll submit the patch when code is available.) -- David Jeske (N9LCA) + http://www.chat.net/~jeske/ + jeske@chat.net
