[Design] Recognizing a response, and group filters

It would be nice if Chandler could recognize a response to a message
that was sent out from itself. In other words, if I send a question to
a mailing list, I obviously want to know when someone responds to that
message. Right now that means periodically checking the mailing list to
see if someone has responded.

It would be nice if Chandler could compare all incoming messages to
those that had been sent out and notify me of a response, which
presumably is more interesting to me than a random posting. This could
be for all e-mail, or it could be set up for specific filters (so, for
example, it only notifies me of response to e-mails in mailing lists).

How Chandler notifies me is a different issue. It could be a visual or
audio notification, it could put a virtual copy of the message in a
high-importance mailbox, whatever. That should be configurable within
Chandler.

This brings up a different issue, which is that different types of
e-mail should be able to be defined within groups (which I am sure is
already being done) such as work, friends, family, mailing lists, etc.
and certain filters should be able to be applied across the entire
group (such as the above described action).

My $.02,

Philip Trauring
