At OSCON, I asked Mitch about plans for incorporating the indexing and
searching technology from one of his former companies, On Technology. The
product was On Location and it was one of my favorite products back in the
old Mac days. Of course back then there wasn't much to index or search, one
mail folder today could be bigger than an entire hard drive back in the days
of that product. There were plug-ins to support many different document
types. Certainly we need a "Google for the desktop". The searching support
in Outlook is just one reason it sucks. Perhaps Mitch will elaborate on the
possibility of opening up the On Location index/search tech for this
project.
