[Design] Email organization - "intertwingle"

Some of the ideas mentioned for Chandler smack of something that was batted
around for Mozilla a few years ago:  Jamie Zawinski suggested a
non-hierarchical model of extracting data from and correlating e-mail messages
which he called "Intertwingle."  The design philosophy seems close enough to
your own that you might find some of his ideas relevant.
