I think the directed labeled graph approach of RDF is the best way to
achieve this.
Any tree structure can be modelled by a DLG and any label that is a
transitive property can be used to generate a tree view of a DLG.
Objects can be grouped together arbitrarily and objects can appear in as
many groups as the user likes.
