[Design] Could we edit messages before permanent storage and/ or answering?

Charlie Joynt Tue, 5 Nov 2002 17:04:33 -0000

We should be able to edit messages if we want to. I already do this
frequently to cross-index emails with feedback I get from websites, etc.
When checking the email at a later date I can see at a glance what it is in
reference to without relying on whoever sent me the email to have made that
reference clear.

If we're in the mood for metaphors or analogy then... I don't keep the
envelopes that my bank statements arrive in or the junk mail that is
attached. I do keep the statements themselves.

As for removing attachments (someone mentioned this?) then could we use a
system whereby one right-clicks the attachment and chooses 'commit to HDD',
replacing the attachment with a URL for the file.
