[Design] Could we edit messages before permanent storage and/or answering?David Neeley Sat, 02 Nov 2002 09:12:51 -0800
One of my complaints about existing email systems is that we cannot *edit* incoming mail before we store it. As you know, many writers add lots of "fluff" that we must read through to get the significant items, either to respond to or to store for later reference. Thus, I'd like to be able to edit incoming mail--then, I can answer it quoting only the significant stuff, and/or I can store it more compactly and with only the stuff I want to "remember" in the mail storage database. If we can add summaries, highlight particular words or phrases, put in comments we wish to follow up upon later--the resulting document in storage when combined with Chandler's own intelligence would be a MUCH better and more efficient basis for later action.
