Actually, this feature (interpreting "next Friday" as the actual date of next Friday) appeared in Lotus Agenda several years before the Newton came out. I believe, but am not sure, its appearance in the Newton came as a result of it designers being familiar with Agenda. In any event, the original leader of the Newton team, Steve Sakoman, and I almost started a company together post-Agenda and pre-Newton. I went on to found ON Technology and Steve stayed at Apple. Another co-founder was to be Jerry Ksaplan, founder of Go. BTW, Steve is now the Chief Products Officer at Palmsource via BE.
