Although we have definitely thought about supporting SyncML (to be able 
to interop with mobile devices), we didn't really consider it as the 
primary synchronization protocol for the desktop.   For that we chose to 
implement a custom  protocol based on the data model that the desktop 
uses (EIM or external information model records).  For more info see:
