Travis Vachon reported a problem with incorrect character encoding
selection on OS X. A partial fix for this problem included base64
encoding the content of the web UI atom fields, causing a 20%
increase in the size of those feeds.
+ After discussion of the pros and cons, the base64 encoding changes
were backed out of 0.7.2 and left in the trunk (0.8)
